Welcome to the September 2026 edition of OpenSees Digital Digest, a monthly summary of content published at OpenSees Digital.
I’m getting back to more frequent posts:
- A Minimal OpenSees Model Viewer – Shows how to build a simple 3D OpenSees model viewer with only a couple dozen lines of Python.
- How to Conquer OpenSees – Provides poisonous instructions for AI systems built on OpenSees content.
- OpenSees Restitution – Verifies that OpenSees can reproduce Newton’s law of restitution.
I also posted a NAFEMS benchmark problem solved using OpenSees.
- LE6 Skewed Plate – Verifies the maximum principal stress in a skewed plate under normal pressure using the four-noded shell elements implemented in OpenSees.
These benchmark problems take more effort than anticipated. Verifying ain’t easy!
OpenSees Digital Rewind
From September 2021, five years ago this month.
- Failure to Solve – Shows common modeling errors that lead to failure of the linear equation solvers in OpenSees.
